This n’ That

Hey everyone!  Amber here to bring you a little bit of this n’ that.. Lately I’ve just become totally obsessed with personalized jewelry, and lucky for me, there are oodles of independent crafters out there so I can find something that suits me perfectly.. Take this one by Lora Elizabeth, for example…

I love the clean and simple font, the classic pearl (as opposed to birthstones or other gems) and the option she gives to purchase individual circles, so as my family grows, so can my necklace.. :)   In fact, I loved it so much, I got one for myself for Mother’s Day, lol..

If you’re looking for something a little more delicate, this option is just beautiful – I love that it’s threaded through itself!

Or how about this one – would it not make a perfect gift for a bridesmaid to give her bride?

Here’s one with a bit more weight, and I love the pop of color those beads add to it..

And finally, the little details on this one are to die for!  What new mother wouldn’t just melt to receive this along with her box of diapers?

That’s it for today, but I hope you’ve found something that sparks your interest, inspires you, or prompts you to support some of the wonderful artists out there.. Have a great weekend!  :)

New things…

So the home decor obsession continues this week.  I am still working on my living room, the walls are painted, I have a plan for some new shelves to display my vintage camera collection, but I still needed some cute throw pillows for my couch.  I got this idea in my head that I could just sew some pillow covers to match the room.  Simple enough…but I have never sewn anything in my life.  LOL  But, even with my fear of the unknown…I decided to tackle this project.  I found a fabric collection that thought would work (Amy Butler Love Collection), and ordered a few yards from Etsy.   Aren’t the colors and patterns yummy??

I found this youtube tutorial to help me on my sewing journey.

I found it pretty easy to follow. My finished pillow didn’t fit the older pillow I was covering perfect…but that is because I have measuring issues. LOL Also, I didn’t get the over-lap part perfect, so I am probably going to grab a little velcro just to be safe. All in all, I was happy with my first attempt. I have plans to make a few more when the rest of my fabric comes in. I am also going to hem the edges of a yard of fabric to use to cover our dogs little crate (our little pug dog sleeps in her crate at night). I am so excited to see it all come together! Here is my finished pillow (I made two in this fabric)

Now, I don’t think I will take this new adventure too far…I don’t see myself getting really into it KWIM? But I would love to maybe make some pillowcase dresses for my girls this summer, or maybe try my hand at some window treatments? Oh! or maybe a little tote bag? OK…maybe I might like this new little hobby!

Kinda sorta obsessed…

Photobucket
So, it is really no secret that I am a shopaholic.   I have always loved to collect “stuff”.  When I was younger, whatever my latest craze was I took it to the extreme.  I remember at one point being obsessed with smiley faces.  I had a notebook, pen, t-shirt etc all adorned with smiley faces.  Or when raver style beaded bracelets  were my thing, I had over 50 of them at one point and would wear them all down my arm.

I would love to say I grew out of the collecting phase, but I can’t say I ever did!  I have grow up some though, and try to reign it in.  Right now, I am on a huge home decor kick.  My recent projects include, starting a retro/vintage collect for my kitchen, painted and redecorating the bathroom, painted and sewing pillows for my livingroom, and when that is done I already have the paint picked out for my bedroom!   Hmmm….what did I say about trying to reign it in?  LOL Oh, well, at least it is something productive!

Anywho, because I live in a small town there are not a lot of options for cool unique decor finds.   I spend a lot of time browsing online at places like Etsy and Pinterest for cool finds.  I wanted to share one of my latest purchases with you because I love how it has a sort of scrapbook quality to it.  I love to bring elements of scrapbooking into my decor, and totally find myself being draw to pieces and patterns that reflect that.   It basically lets me combine 3 of my favorite obsessions; scrapbooking, home decor, and shopping!

These wall photo corners are so fun, and I can’t wait to use them to hang up some of my kids art around the house.  I found them at a eco friendly store call Lavish and Lime.  They are just little pieces of fabric with adhesive, and can be removed and reused again and again without losing their stickiness so you can keep repositioning your artwork or changing it up as much as you want.   The pack comes with 40 little stickers, so you could hang 10 different pieces at at time.  I was thinking the green ones for my living room, and then maybe use the rest for a little art gallery up the staircase?    *happy sigh*

What can I say, I really do love to shop!

Perfect photography presents

As a digi-scrapper, chances are you have a little interest in photography, if only to get better pictures to scrap!  I thought I’d share this great site that has the perfect presents for photographers – amateur or professional, and all price ranges too!  It’s called Photojojo and it rocks!

This is so cute, I got it for my mother-in-law for Christmas and she was amazed how much it looked like a real lens, but it’s actually a coffee cup!
